A Family-Owned Winery Built on Farming
For 50 years, Stein has been a family-owned winery and working farm in Mudgee. What began with a vineyard has grown into a diverse agricultural business that today includes vineyards, livestock, a cellar door, restaurant and a dedicated team of more than 30 local staff.
While many people know us for our wines, farming remains at the heart of everything we do. Every season brings new challenges, from weather and vintage conditions through to rising operating costs and the increasing complexity of running a modern agricultural business.

Like many Australian family businesses, we've experienced significant increases in costs over recent years.
From fuel and freight through to labour, compliance, taxation and day-to-day operating expenses, the cost of producing and delivering quality Australian wine continues to rise.
As a winery, we already operate in an industry carrying substantial taxation obligations. Added pressures and increasing costs across the business have created a very different environment to the one many family farms were operating in only a few years ago.
Despite these challenges, our focus remains the same: growing quality produce, making great wine and continuing to invest in the future of our farm and our region.
