Vintage Conditions: 2008 was a good year for us in Mudgee. A dry summer with a lot of cloud cover slowed ripening down and allowed great flavour development. Riesling, Shiraz and Cabernet were the highlights of 2008
Winemaking: The grapes were hard selected in the early morning to retain freshness and flavour. The shiraz and viogner was co-fermented in open fermentors and gently hand plunged. Maturation was in 40% new American oak Hogsheads for one year.
Tasting Notes: Made through the traditional method of co-fermentation in open vats this wine shows lifted floral, spice and blueberry characters on the nose. The palate is soft and generous with ripe berry fruit flavours and fine silky tannins to finish. A drink now wine, although it will cellar well for 5 years.
